Is there a free tier?

Where is design data stored?
Designs, thread history, notes, and attachments are stored in your cloud workspace. See Privacy & security for the data-handling details.
Can teammates see my threads?
Threads are scoped to a workspace and project. Other members of that workspace can access its project data according to their workspace role.
Do I need to install anything?
No for the main app. Second Silicon runs in your browser at app.secondsilicon.ai. Install Symbiote only when a workflow needs a supported local tool or instrument.
Does Second Silicon work offline?
No. Agent responses, cloud sync, and account access all need a network connection. Symbiote captures scope data locally, but the agent still needs the network to reason over it.
Will Second Silicon modify my source files?
It depends on the board. Editable KiCad boards can expose native Design mode. Altium and rendered-only boards use overlay annotations and do not receive source write-back.
Which AI models are used by default?
When you don’t pin a model, Second Silicon picks one from the providers you’ve configured. See AI models & usage for the model list, BYOK setup, and how the cost display works.
Can I export my data?
Each thread can download a transcript-style PDF from its thread menu. Generated multi-thread reports and JSON download are not available in the current UI. See Exports.
